Dr. Adolfo Leyva

Dr. Adolfo Leyva is one of Mexico's leading bariatric and metabolic surgeons — and one of very few in the region who holds both a Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Master's in Education, reflecting equal commitments to clinical excellence and the advancement of surgical knowledge.

Based at Hospital Zambrano Hellión since its opening in 2012, Dr. Leyva has built his practice around a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to obesity surgery. He completed advanced laparoscopic training at the Texas Endosurgery Institute in San Antonio — giving him deep fluency with the expectations and standards of American patients — and has been treating US patients for years. A former President of the NorthEast Mexico Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Leyva currently serves on the Foregut Surgery Committee of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and is an active Professor of Surgery at Tec de Monterrey School of Medicine.His philosophy: Surgery is a tool, not a solution.
